Community Services

Community Service is aimed at supporting local organisations and individuals around Hoppers Crossing and Werribee.
2015 – 2016
  • Donation made to Woody’s Warriors Ride to Conquer Cancer.
  • Donation made to Western Emergency Relief Network.
  • Sponsorship of a family to attend Nurture in Nature – A family based Camp in a bush setting where participants are encouraged to learn how to interact as a family unit away for the modern day distractions of our beloved electronic “baby sitters.
  • Donation made to Victoria Police Blue Ribbon Day.
  • Donation made to ‘Walk for Spinal Muscular Atrophy’. This activity had an affiliation with Kim Jago (daughter of one of our members) and her friend who set out on an epic walk to raise funds for Spinal Muscular Atrophy.

2014 – 2015

  • Donation made to Maori Wardens to support their work in the local community with young Maoris.
  • Donation made to Woody’s Warriors in their Ride to Conquer Cancer.
  • Donation made to Australian Rotary Health for Hat Day.
  • Donation made to Victoria Police for Blue Ribbon Day.
  • Donation made to Wyndham City Salvation Army for their Christmas Day community lunch.
  • Donation made to South West Melbourne Medicare Local and Victorian Aboriginal Child Care Agency in support of the local indigenous community.
  • Donation made to Werribee RSL for the WWI Gallipoli Commemoration Project.
  • Donation made to (past member) Daisy Lima in her Ride to Conquer MS.
  • Donation made to Royal Flying Doctors Service.

2013 – 2014

  • Made a co-contribution with Hoppers Crossing Apex to assist a local single mother with significant health issues.
  • Donated two iPads for two primary children of a local family in need of financial support.
  • Sponsored the Wyndham All Abilities Football Club to purchase club uniforms.
  • Donation made to the Warringa Park School to support the continuation of their Breakfast Program.
  • Purchased a Christmas Hamper to provide Christmas Lunch for a local family in need nominated by Wyndham City Salvation Army.
  • Donation made to Woody’s Warriors in their Ride to Conquer Cancer.
  • Financial support to enable a Karen refugee to pursue a traineeship with Parks Victoria.
  • Hosted a BBQ and participated in a tree planting day with Tarneit Residents Association.
  • Held a working bee at Wyndham City Salvation Army to re-establish their vegetable garden bed with supplies fresh vegetables to their kitchen, which are used to provide lunches to local residents in need.

2012 – 2013

  • Donation towards the purchase for a refugee family in Hoppers Crossing.
  • Funded the purchase of items for small toiletry bags for homeless youth in Wyndham.
  • Donation made to Werribee Coast Guide.
  • Purchase of a refrigerator for a young mother-to-be in Hoppers Crossing.
    Donation to the Police Blue Ribbon Day.
  • Major contribution made to a local family with a young person with severe disabilities to converting their vehicle so it is wheelchair accessible. Most of this contribution was raised through the ‘Coins on the Runner’ fundraising.
  • Donation towards to purchase of a Defibrillator machine for Werribee Centrals Tennis Club.
  • Donation toward the development of a playground for the Laverton Autistic School. This project was coordinated between the Rotary Clubs of Williamstown-Point Gellibrand and Laverton-Point Cook.
  • Donation made towards to cycling team from BAe raising funds for the Royal Flying Doctors Service.
  • Donation towards the Hoppers Crossing Apex Club’s work with the residents affected by the Gippsland Bushfires.
  • ‘Rotarians at Work’ working bee supported by Bunnings Hoppers Crossing. The work was done at the Manor Court Aged Care facility.

2011 – 2012

  • Donation made to Migrant Hub to purchase a bane marie for their café.
  • Donation made to State Rose Garden Supporters Inc. for the installation of a proper entrance arch to the State Rose Garden at Werribee Park.
  • Made a donation to Camp Getaway toward their redevelopment of their kitchen.
  • Made a donation to Interact Australia towards the purchase of a vehicle to transport young people to community venues.
  • We contributed to funding toward the establishment of a bike riding education course for children with special needs at Manor Lakes P12 College which was being coordinated by Wyndham Rotary Club and involving all Rotary clubs in the area.
  • Donation made to CatholicCare in support of refugees and the local community in acquiring skills to enter the workforce.
  • Sponsored a participant in the Future Leader of the West program. We covered the cost of the course fees for the Diploma of Management that he was completing.
  • Made a donation to the fundraising efforts of a local family who have two sons with Cystic Fibrosis.
  • Made a donation to the Hoppers Crossing Apex Club cycling team who completed the Ride to Conquer Cancer.
  • We made other donations to: Swags for the Homeless, Josephs Corner, Leukaemia Foundation ‘Worlds Greatest Shave’, and Yooralla.
  • Assisted in the preparation of the Community Garden under the auspice of Werribee Environment Community Park Committee.
  • Participated in the Rotary Bowelscan program along with all other cluster clubs.
  • Provided a barbecue for the participants in Clean Up Australia Day in Wyndham Waters.
  • Made a donation to support prostate cancer research through kConFab.

2010 – 2011

  • A donation was made to Rotary Against Ovarian Cancer (RoCan).
  • Participated in the Rotary Bowelscan program along with all other cluster clubs.
    Made donations to: Manor Court aged Care Facility, Australian Rotary Health (Hat Day raising awareness of mental health), and MS Research Australia.
  • Donation made to Laverton Community Choir to assist with purchase of new uniforms.
  • Made a donation to a local family to assist with purchasing a ‘T6ilt-a-space Wheelchair’ for their six year old daughter who has Rett Syndrome.
  • Made a donation to a local family to assist with purchasing an electronic bed for their son who has Transverse Myelitis (which causes paralysis from the waist down).
  • Purchase of a touch pad and special voice recognition software for a young student whp has Marfan Syndrome.
  • Conducted a working bee with Habitat. Habitat has a local chapter in Wyndham and assists with housing for needy families.
