Want to make a real difference? . . . .
Why not think about joining our club?
It is a simple process with the major criteria your willingness to serve others and to make a difference in your community.
Give President Des a call on 0401 287050 to talk about how you could become a member.
You are welcome to come along to a couple of our meetings and see Rotary at work and meet other community minded people who have chosen to join Rotary International.
All our projects start from an idea by one Rotarian. Through your decision to join a Rotary club you can help to initiate and guide our projects.
Rotary not only provides much needed funds for those in need both domestically and Internationally, but its members have an opportunity to get involved in hands-on projects to make a significant difference to peoples lives here in Hoppers Crossing and communities needing assistance in Third World countries.
Rotary’s commitment to ‘Service Above Self’ is channelled through four Avenues of Service. The opportunities for community engagement are endless through the generous contribution of voluntary service by Rotarians partnering with their families, friends, other community groups, and the financial support of local businesses to benefit our communities and make this world a better place.
Humanitarian (Community) Service – Rotary is an organisation dedicated to local and international communities. Rotary Clubs work within their local communities to implement projects and activities that improve life for all in the community.
Youth (New Generations) Service – New Generations Service recognises the positive change implemented by youth and young adults through leadership development activities, service projects, and exchange programs. At the Rotary Club of Hoppers Crossing we are involved with many great youth programs including the hugely successful WYNSPEAK competition, which provides beneficial training in Public Speaking skills for students in approximately 30 secondary colleges in the Western Region.
International Service – International Service encompasses efforts to expand Rotary’s humanitarian reach around the world and to promote world understanding and peace. It includes everything from contributing to Polio Plus, which is a defining Rotary project where through funding for immunisation throughout the world, we are on the brink of seeing the last known case of Polio in the world, to helping Rotary Youth Exchange students adjust to their host countries, and at Hoppers Crossing, through funding diabetes education seminars for medical people in Ghana.
Vocational Service – Vocational Service involves club members serving others through their professions and aspiring to high ethical standards. Rotarians, as business leaders, share skills and expertise through their vocations, and they inspire others in the process
Rotary members enjoy meeting regularly, but Rotary is flexible in that we only expect you to attend club meetings if, and when they can – providing you are contributing in some way to our programs then we are happy to welcome you as a member
Our annual membership fee is $260 per year and this can be split into two payments: one in July and the other in August.by
