Our guest speakers on Wednesday 18th of April where Alan Thompson and Alaine Beek from the Wyndham Theatre Company.

Alan is the current president and has held that position for the past 10 years. The company has been in existence for 50 years and has performed around 130 productions in that time. Some of those productions have taken place in regional centres across Victoria.

The Company has won a number of prestigious awards over its life for productions that include ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’, ‘A Christmas Carol’, ‘Month of Sundays’ and ‘Lion in Winter’. Alan said that the Company was always looking for volunteers to fill a variety of production and behind the scenes roles. He also noted that the Company has a strong youth focus. Alaine spoke about upcoming productions and gave us an insight to her production, ‘Point of No Return’, which the company will perform to celebrate its 50th anniversary. The play is historically based and tells the story of boys who were transported as convicts to Port Arthur. An interesting presentation that took us behind the scenes of the Wyndham Theatre Company.
